McDonald’s Changes Name in Australia

Sharing is Caring...

McDonald’s has decided to change the name of 13 restaurants in Australia , after a branding survery found that 55% of Aussies called the company a different name: Macca’s.

“We’ve been a part of Australia for over 40 years now and we’re incredibly proud to embrace our ‘Australian-only’ nickname,” Mark Lollback, chief marketing officer for McDonald’s Australia told the press.

The restaurants will change signage this week as part of celebrations for Australia Day.

“What better way to show Aussies how proud we are to be a part of the Australian community than by changing our store signs to the name the community has given us?”

This is a first for the fast food chain, and it raises the question of whether or not we’ll one day see the word “McDee’s” under the golden arches on these shores.
