The Side Effects of Soda Consumption
Considering that a regular can of Soda contains 39 grams of sugar or 10 teaspoon fulls, it’s not surprising that that drinking that soda leads to fat buildup in the body, it also leads to fat buildup around your liver and muscles, both of which can contribute to diabetes.
Scientists have also researched the effects of aspartame on mice. Aspartame apparently raised blood sugar levels, which then caused weight gain. When the liver encounters too much glucose, the excess is converted to body fat.
Also important to note is that artificial sweeteners such as aspartame cannot be broken down in our bodies, so they go out the same way they came in…(so to speak)…and then re-enter our water supply.
The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has been petitioned to ban the artificial caramel coloring used to make colas brown. The reason being that two contaminants in the coloring, have been found to cause cancer in animals…nothing refreshing about that! Considering the coloring is purely cosmetic!
Colas contain phosphates, which is a type of acid. While it is a weak acid, too much of it can lead to heart and kidney problems, muscle loss, and osteoporosis. It has also been found to trigger accelerated aging. Fountain of youth my ass PEPSI!
Another fun fact about sodas and canned drinks…it’s not just the soda that’s causing all the problems. Nearly all aluminum cans are lined with an epoxy resin which is used to keep the acids in soda from reacting with the metal. This epoxy resin is known to interfere with hormones….oh yeah…that’s gotta be good for your body….
These are just a few of the side effects of soda…I wonder what the difference is between the colas and sodas of yesteryear to today…were they better for you? Hmmm, I’m craving a Dr. Pepper now…just because I know it’s so bad….
