Rate it 1 to 10: I would give Ferro’s an 8.5 out of a possible 10.

After walking for about 15 minutes on Saint Clair on my first night in Toronto this weekend, my friends and I stopped in front of a very popular restaurant which name I will not disclose. My friend walked up to the young hostess and asked her in all honesty: “Objectively speaking, how good is this restaurant?”. Surprisingly, she gave the undisclosed restaurant a good review but slipped in that Ferro was a much better choice. We automatically made a B line to Ferro Bar & Cafe.

The place was jamming! The music walking in was a bit cheesy/elevator music-ish but the buzz of people conversing really set a wonderful atmosphere. We sat near the sliding window, but the patio was totally available as well, unfortunately the traffic on Saint Clair yet is not quite that entertaining. Service was quick and very helpful.

I loved the mix of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Parmesan cheese and roasted pepper oil mix they brought with the bread. We decided on the bruschetta and Rustica salad for starters. The arugula salad topped with wild mushrooms, shaved Pecorino Romano cheese and white truffle oil was refreshing and very tasty. The bruschetta was very good as well, but next time I will try another starter.

Dipping bread in this mix was phenomenal BUT I overloaded on carbs...

Bruschetta

Rustica Salad: Cheese makes everything better.

We all decided to get pizzas which the waitress said was the house specialty. I shared the Piccante, topped with fennel sausage, caramelized onions, hot peppers, tomato sauce, fresh basil and mozzarella and the Verdura, composed of grilled zucchini, eggplant, roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, goat cheese, tomato sauce and mozzarella, with my girlfriend. They were both very tasty. The Piccante was just spicy enough and the Verdura is perfect for your veggie side.

The Maria: grilled chicken, portobello mushroom, roasted red pepper, tomato sauce and mozzarella. Yum...

The Verdura: Vegetarian Heaven

The Piccante: For the spicy side of you

It was a great experience. The wine was affordable and our food arrived promptly considering how busy they were. I unfortunately did not have any dessert because our plans were to head to Dutch Dreams… You guys will love my post on that dessert escapade.
