There is some debate on the origins of tiramisu. Some believe it was created in Treviso at Le Beccherie restaurant by Francesca Valori, whose maiden name was Tiramisu. Other sources say the cake either originated in Siena, where it was created in honor of the visiting Cosimo III, or at by Carminantonio Iannaccone at a restaurant near Venice. There will never be any resolution to that. Still, all of these people helped lay the foundation for one of the world’s best desserts, including all its variations.
