There really hasn’t been much in the way of innovation when it comes to vending machines, has there? Of course, you can argue that when you’re selecting food out of a box, there’s not much need for technology. In any case, Intel, Okaya Electronics and Sanden (a manufacturer of vending machines) have teamed up to usher in the modern era. Features on this prototype include:
- A vertically-mounted, 65-inch, transparent touchscreen display
- Overlaid text, video and advertisements
- A camera that uses facial recognition to guess age and gender and expected tastes.
- Nutritional information flashed on the screen for products selected
