Ok so last night, feeling like a midnight snack and not having much in the cupboard because I haven’t had time to get out to the grocery store, I found myself reaching for some crackers. I was in the mood for something salty, not sweet. Now when I reached for the box and plucked out one of those quarter frosted plastic packs, opened it up and crunched down on one of those fresh, crispy crackers…I was horrified when I realized the truth…there was NO SALT!
All I wanted was something salty to quench my hunger and to eat that wasn’t high in fat. Here I am crunching down on an UNsalted SALTine…dude wtf is going on here? What’s with this unexpected food paradox?
I know you’re going to say, why didn’t you just sprinkle them with salt? Well nothing can replace that flaky bleached white salt that comes baked onto the good ‘old saltine cracker.
This goes out to all the big food processing companies. You know who you are, the big players in the food industry. The ones who’s packaging costs more than the actual food it contains. STOP WITH YOUR FOOD PARADOXES! Your “diet” colas, your “light” cheeses, your “low fat” cakes and cookies. Those things weren’t meant to be LOW FAT or LIGHT. It’s called moderation and people need to learn how to incorporate it into their eating habits!
Type of Cuisine: Crackers aren’t really a type of cuisine but they are great in their own way.
Where did you have it: At home mostly. Or in a cafeteria in individual packs of 2 with my chicken soup.
How much? $3.29 for a 450g box
Rate it 1 to 10 : 8 out of a possible 10 for crackers and 5 out of 10 for the unsalted version. If it was up to me they wouldn’t even exist.

Low Fat Ice Cream…there’s a paradox for you!
Last weekend I was dared to try to eat 6 saltines all at one time in under 60 seconds. I did it in 1:05 and apparently that was a record for my friends.
